Start with the door you want screened

Nearly every security screen job starts at a door, because that is the opening you want to leave open. The type of door decides most of what follows, so it is the first thing we look at.

Hinged entry doors take a single screen door on its own frame, with a three-point lock and security pin hinges. It is the most common job we do and the one people picture when they say security door.

Sliding doors and stackers get a sliding screen that runs in its own track. Worth knowing before you price it: the screen covers the panel that slides, not the full width of the opening. A three metre stacker is not a three metre screen.

French doors take a pair of screens that meet in the middle, and back, laundry and garage entry doors are usually the cheapest screens in the house because they are small and standard.

Which mesh belongs on a door

The frame does the securing. The mesh decides what you see, what you feel and what it costs.

SecureView is marine grade stainless steel mesh. It is the clearest to look through and the one to fit near the water, and it carries the longest warranty we offer. Within 500 metres of the coast we quote the SaltWater Series instead.

Xceed is perforated aluminium. It costs less than stainless, will not rust, and it is harder for anyone outside to see in, which people like on a front door facing the street.

Diamond Grille is the classic aluminium grille. It is the most affordable way to secure a door properly and it moves the most air, and yes, you do see the pattern.

BasiX sits outside that comparison. It is a barrier and fall prevention screen, not a security screen, so if you want both jobs done on the one door we will point you at SecureView.

The parts nobody mentions until the quote

Locks, hinges and hardware are where a cheap screen door gives itself away. Ours come with three-point locking on hinged doors, security pin hinges that cannot be knocked out, and a key barrel that can be matched to your existing keys.

Pet doors can be fitted into a new screen neatly, as long as we know before it is made. Colours are powder coated to suit the house rather than to suit the factory, and we can match most Colorbond colours.

New doors only, measured and installed by us

We make and install new screen doors. We do not repair, re-mesh or re-hang someone else's, because we cannot stand behind a frame we did not make. If yours is past it, we measure the opening and quote a new one.

The measure is free and the quote is fixed. Our own installers fit the door, so if it ever needs adjusting you are talking to the people who made it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair or re-mesh existing security doors?

No. We make and install new screen doors only. If a frame is bent or the mesh has failed we will measure the opening and quote a new door to fit it.

Does a security screen cover my whole sliding door?

No, it covers the panel that slides. On a stacker or a wide slider the screen matches the opening you actually walk through, not the full width of the glass, which is worth knowing before you compare prices.

What does a security screen door cost?

It depends on the size, the mesh and the hardware, so we quote the door in front of us rather than a range down the phone. The measure and quote are free, and the price we put in writing is the price you pay.

Can I still see out and get a breeze?

Yes, that is the point of them. SecureView is the clearest of the three and Diamond Grille moves the most air. Most people end up leaving doors open more often than they did before.

Do you fit pet doors into security screens?

Yes, into a new screen. Tell us at the measure and we will build it in so the finish is neat and the security rating is not compromised.
